Less than a month to go!!

The Research Vessel (R/V) Atlantis.  (Woods Hole
Oceanographic Institution).
The plane tickets are purchased, the hotels are booked and our gear has been sent on a truck to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.  The R/V Atlantis will sail to Nuuk, Greenland and the Fisheries and Oceans Canada science staff (Steve Punshon, Marc Ringuette, Lorenza Raimondi and Andrew Cogswell) will meet her there on September 2nd to begin organizing their gear and familiarizing themselves with the ship and crew prior to her planned departure on the 6th of September.  If all goes as planned, we'll get back into Greenland on the 25th of September before flying out on the 26th to Iceland and then back to Halifax, Nova Scotia on the 28th.

Throughout the trip I hope to post blogs describing interesting events, facts and maybe even a guest blog or 2 to keep things interesting.  Keep your eyes open for links to video posts if I ever get the bandwidth on the ship to post Youtube videos.

I'm open to making changes to the blog on the fly, so if there is content that you think might be interesting to post or links we should direct people too, or if you just see mistakes (likely to happen after long hours when I'm miserable with sea-sickness), then let me know and I'll get to it as soon as I can.

I should make the disclaimer that this is a personal log and is by no means a reflection of the views of the Government of Canada or Fisheries and Oceans Canada.  It's meant to be fun and informative so all suggestions are welcome.
